Lost in the Woods, but not as Lost as Some

Enjoying a beer Tim Cochrane, the navigator of Nga Rakau is full of stories from last night "I had a nightmare, and Mark had to take over" was his blunt comment.

The sting in the tail of the course strikes again. He tells of 4 hours spent in the same place, of dropping of the ridge to a river only to find it was running in the wrong direction with boulders as big as houses. This was time for more decisions and the team headed straight up to the ridge through the forest and popping out on to a track - the right one they hoped.

Just before this they were with the Dancing Pandas who had decided to backtrack to a known point. From this point even with mistakes they have managed to put 8 hours onto the Pandas who are now still on the top of the mountains somewhere ...

This team perhaps with hardy stomachs) drunk water that was mostly untreated during the entire course. They only looked to the purifying tablets at times when the water was sitting. (Diarrhoea from bad water or some other bug has put a few teams out of this race.)

As they drink the beer and eat the pizza the scales are produced to check their weight loss (or in one case a gain). Mark appears to have gained a kilo and half while the others have lost between six and two kilos (Isac Meyer 6 kilos, Louise Mark 2 kilos, and Tim 5 kilos).

They really don't recommend it as a weight loss program though.

Champagne and beer finished the plan now is for showers, food and bed, although word of cocktails tonight watching video clips and images from the race in the HQ lifts their heads ...See All Event Posts
