The first words into my head looking at Dirty Avocadoes of California was NOOOOOOO, not that way!

Maybe these guys saw the pine tree on the map that I can see and thought of home. On the other hand, going over topos, Google Earth (from the comfort of my lounge) and the like could in fact be the quickest route through what is turning out to be the sting in the tail for XPD, or the final straw to try and crack the teams mental fortitude.

Dirty Avocadoes Adventure Racing now find themselves in country less forested than the ridge line the majority of teams are following. They have negotiated trekking to the North and along Davies Creek Rd. and this has them less than a couple of kilometres from high tension lines and service trails which have the potential to get them back to Lake Morris.

I say potential as this is certainly quite speculative, but could save the team some enormous torment should they befall the same fate as some of the earlier teams and slip off the ridge line. With an average speed on this leg of 2km per hour finding any trail could be of huge benefit to a team. We await their stories.
