May 30th saw a band of brave and ever so slightly crazy adventure runners tackle the infamous votwo Kamikaze at a brand new venue; Pippingford Park, East Sussex.

Wearing their trademarked votwo Kamikaze headbands the competitors faced a gruelling and adventurous 4 mile course to complete twice, including obstacles such as The Bog and the Kamikaze Slide before hitting the finishing straight to conquer The Wall.

The hilly nature of the terrain at Pippingford Park provided a suitable backdrop for the event that has become the younger sibling of the original Mapperton Kamikaze which will take place in July this year.

Taking the overall honours was Simon Wurr, coming home in 1:06:00 just over a minute ahead of his nearest challenger (coming all the way from Canada no less!) Will Critchley. 3rd was Tom Morris but he was over 6 minutes behind Wurr; showing just how good a run the winner put in.

In the ladies event regular votwo event entrant Lucy Hilton, as usual, beat a lot of the guys finishing 9th overall and winning both the ladies overall and veteran prizes, all this despite a persistent back injury! Kate Everly took second with Jennifer Howland in third.

Various teams of 3 also ran together round the event and Team Bunny Mansell were first home in just over 90 minutes.

All the competitors showed great guts and determination to complete this incredibly tough event and, although weary, most finished with a great smile on their faces.

Clif Bar provided excellent support, feeding the competitors on the route and before the start with the votwo catering wagon filling in with the bacon rolls where an energy bar was not quite enough!
