The Finnish team Karsu.fi took one last step up and defeated both the Monster and the chasing team Sport Nature VLG early on Friday morning when they crossed the finish line in fifth place. They were asked; “Did you like the competition? Yes and no was the answer! “The no part is not linked to the race. My team was not able to perform its best because of injuries, but yes because I like the general idea of having a race in a place like Lofoten, said team captain Olli-Pekka Holttinen. That place is really good. That area, and the Sarek area - that was the main reason why we participated. I have never been in those areas before.
Sport Nature finished about two hours after Karsu – the same distance as when they left TA9. They took some time on them after leaving transition, but lost it at the end of the following paddling section again.
It wasn’t more than three hours until next team came to the centre of Piteå and could step up at the podium as seventh team. This time it was the Czech Republic team Kompar Xstream. “The landscape was very beautiful, very good for this type of race. But we made a huge mistake when we didn't bring any inflatable mattresses so we had to swim in Rapadalen. We were very cold afterwards and we had to make a fire to regain the heat,â€? said team captain Martin Sebanek.
At nine o’clock, just in time for the prize giving ceremony, the Estonian team Salomon ACE Logistics came into the finish area and was welcomed by the other teams. Now there is just one team left in the competition – the Lithuanian team Robinzonada. They are determined to struggle and continue the race all the way over the finish line.
The American team Zero to Hero and the Dutch team AMI Explore has also arrived in Piteå, but on bikes instead of in kayaks since they have missed a cut off. AMI Explore supported Zero to Hero all the way over the finish line. They will both get ranks in the competition, but after all the teams that have raced the whole course.
At the prize giving ceremony Team Silva Gerber received a free entry to the world championships in Spain. The Swedish team Statkraft surprisingly won the ADTA Awards prize and get a free entry to the competition in Abu Dhabi in December.See All Event Posts
