Exhausted, but happy, that is how the participants of the Merrell Adventure Race in the Bavarian Forest reached the finish line. Organizer Markus Brahmer challenged about 70 participants with an adventurous and varying mix of events last weekend.

The start of the masters class, with the challenging distance of 260 kilometers began on Thursday at midnight. The teams of two started at the Regensburg Cathedral with night orienteering, which went past the most important sights of Regensburg.

The route continued with trekking in the direction of Roding, where the teams arrived by Friday morning. Mountain biking, a canoe tour, inline skating and tree climbing were also scheduled. The highlight for most teams was rappelling into their own canoe – accuracy was required here!

The winning team of the Masters class reached the finish on Saturday at 3.43 pm, after racing for nearly 40 hours.

The majority of the teams started in the shorter challenger class, which was more attainable for the “normal sportsman with a distance of 50 km. Nearly 30 teams were at the start on Saturday morning and the fastest crossed the finishing line after 7 hours, 14 minutes.See All Event Posts
