Blackwater Pass the Dam

Blackwater got to the portage at the end of Embalse Sta. Teresa this morning, looking like they're feeling the effects of the race. Nathan Fa'avae in particular, suffering little from his shoeless trek but more with an eye infection picked up early in the race. While they carried the boats down the steep trail to the get-in, he mentioned that he'd been having trouble seeing for a while, and that navigation in the dark was causing him issues.<P>
They set off onto the river at 10:40am, two and a quarter hours behind Buff Thermocool. It's worth remembering that the leaders have an hour and a half in hand from their neutralization at the dam. Either way, the competition is still by no means over.
