The Farm 2010
Steve Cooper - Team SleepMonsters / 31.10.2010

Seasoned racers and novices were treated to some great racing within easy reach of Sydney, Shellharbour was the focal point of Race 1 of the Paddly Pallin AROC Sport Series for 2010-11, the weather could have been kinder as it blew like a mongrel and the safety guys had to cut back some great coasteering plans, needless to say the race was still a success albeit tarnished by local vandals.
Our race plans started thursday or is that fell apart on thursday when the team crumbled in the so a few hurried calls to some race day performers were required.
Pete called me on Friday and said “coop have you seen the weather in Canberra! my response was “buddy we aren’t racing in Canberra that would have been a good call on race morning, “where are you mate i cant find HQ, “WHERE - WOLLONGONG disaster averted and pete rocked up at the right spot, Kev, the same guy that did a GeoQuest with us at a weeks notice was also on the line with Pete and Myself.
A few locals seemed curious as to all these goings on and the poor souls across from rego had organised for their delivery trucks to move furniture in the same day, so much for their thoughts of parking.
Near on 600 competitors rolled up, the course had us getting bused to Minamurra just north of Kiama, it was then a combination of Swim-Tube, Run, MTB, Coasteer-Run, MTB, Rogaine, MTB, Kayak, MTB and a Bonus leg if you had too much in your tank still.
Maps laminated, tubes inflated and bikes dropped at “The Farm and we were on the buses. No need for airbags in case of an emergency on this bus, we all had personal airbags, 60 people and innertubes all packed in and several buses.
