51 teams crossed the start line in Pintag, at 6h30am in a cold morning in the Ecuadorian Andes.

They looked happy and excited, with tons of energy, ready to start one of the most beautiful races organized by Proyecto Aventura.

International teams left their hotel in a bus at 3h30 in the morning, and reached Pintag on time for the last preparations and warm up. The official team’s picture had the background of an old illuminated colonial church, in the center of Pintag town. Unfortunately, one of the 52 teams did not reach the start line, team 47, since one of his members had a medical emergency before coming to the start line (he is OK!).

During Huairasinchi’s first day, teams will face a 2 hour biking leg to then enter a very hard 40km trek in the highlands, which may be the toughest challenge for the first day, especially for the international teams who did not get a chance to get acclimatized since teams will reach an altitude of 4300m.
