Omjakon wins Endurance Quest After Strong Performance
Endurance Quest / 27.07.2012

Omjakon wins Endurance Quest after about 74h 50 min of racing. Second place went for Multisport.fi who reached the finish line about 1h 10 min after the winners.
“Finally, we don’t have to rush anymore, just stay where we are and enjoy this victory”, Tommi Putkuri from Omjakon said a few minutes after reaching the finish line.
“Our favorite part of the race was definitely the long kayaking. It was so beautiful. The Finnish archipelago is the most beautiful place we have paddled, although we all have been racing around the world”, Outi Seppä from Omjakon said.
After the long kayaking section third place holder ScandinavianOutdoorstore.com realized Russian Redfox was getting closer and closer. After that SOS has secured about an hour lead to Redfox. Unless something happens, SOS is going to take the third place. It looks like top three teams is going to be Finnish teams.
“Now that we have a winner I can say that everything went well during the race. No major problems for any of the teams or organizers, although we had to change the route plan for the first day. I think the strongest teams were the strongest in this race. What I have heard, teams seem to have been pleased with the race course”, organizer Pete Forsman said after top two teams reached the finish line.
The top teams can rest now, but the race is still on for most of the teams. The race course is expected to be closed at noon on Saturday. Prize giving ceremony will take place on Saturday evening. That is when we will have the official results.
Please keep following the race via our gps system, which we have received a lot of good words about. Facebook is going to be active until the race is over and even after that. We are also downloading photos to our photo gallery all the time, so there is still a lot to expect from Finland and Endurance Quest. Stay tuned!
