Guadarun Raid Adventure
Stage 2, 22 k: A very technical day on Marie-Galante island
Jacqueline Windh / 03.04.2013

I suppose that what we said about yesterday’s stage, “tough, but beautiful... will end up applying to every stage of this race... if for no other reason but the heat. But today’s stage was tough for the terrain, as well.
We had camped the night at Capesterre, the island’s most easterly point, under a relentless wind. It is hard to get a good sleep when your tent-wall is pounding against your head all night! Wake-up was at 4:45, for 5:00 breakfast then breaking camp, to catch a bus the short drive to the race start.
At 7:30 the gun went off. We jogged the first 500 m, down a straight section of road, as a group, the leaders quickly moving ahead, then veered off to the right for our first trail section.
