Stage 4, 15 km: Terre de Haut, Les Saintes - welcome relief: Rain!

Today’s rain was welcomed by nearly all of the runners. A few complained, claiming they would rather run in the heat than have wet feet. But for the majority, the steady shower for the first our and a half of the race was a welcome break from the heat, which has been pretty constant so far.

Today was another short day, just shy of 15 km in length. But none of these routes are easy. Today we started with two 100 m climbs (and descents), then a final 300 m climb up to the old fort at the peak of Chameau.

After breakfast (yes,baguettes and jam again!) we started in the centre of the village, close to where the ferries come in. We ran through town (which is very tiny) then up our first hill, which was the one trail section today. The drizzle started on our way out of town, and soon it turned into rain - so I packed my camera away, and Dave (who has a waterproof camera) was put in charge of photography for the day.
