Our race is over, and most of the racers have already gone home. Emails full of fond memories flying back and forth between members of the group, old friends and new ones. Dave and I have stayed for an extra few days of R&R in the sun, but we, too, leave in a few hours.

As usual, this was a great event. It is the 14th year that Guadarun has taken place, and the organizers use that wealth of experience to put on an absolutely great race. They know the islands, and they design some really fantastic, varied, and challenging routes.

I think the highlight of the whole event is the fact that each stage takes place on a different island. While that does mean that time is spent in transportation every day (bus and ferry transport), it also means that we get to see more of Guadeloupe in one week than almost anyone, even a local, would see in their whole life!</p>
