Aveyron Adventure Race
The Start in Nants
Rob Howard / 25.07.2013

The ancient monastic village of Nants has been a welcoming and attractive setting from which to start the race and teams gathered once again in the centre for the race start this morning at 08.00.
In the cool of the morning and surrounded by the fountains and canals which flow though the whole village it was a pleasant and relaxed start with the teams leaving at 30 second intervals, cheered on by a crowd of supporters and support crews.
One racer who was a bit anxious was the embarrassed rider from X-Bionic who just couldn’t wait to start and set off with the team ahead of his. He had to be called back by his team mates!
Most teams were relaxing before the start, staying cool and making sure they had their camelbaks filled for the ride, knowing it would soon get very hot. Yves Bilodeau of Quechua said, “The race is a little earlier this year, so I think it will be hotter, but we know this race well. We always come as we like the scenery and the organisation is spot on.”
His team will be one of the favourites and are clearly looking forward to their outing in Aveyron.
