X-ADVENTURE, Dunsborough 2015 entries open
News Release / 29.10.2014

Entries have opened for the third annual X-Adventure off-road triathlon that will once again be held in Dunsborough, Western Australia, over the weekend of 14-15 March, 2015.
Set on a spectacular course taking in Dunsborough’s wilderness paradise, X-Adventure is the ideal mix of triathlon and adventure racing; combining ocean swimming, trail running and mountain bike riding.
The weekend includes Long Course, Short Course and a Kids Race, along with 3 new standalone paddle races that have been added to the schedule for 2015.
International Elite X-Terra athletes and 2014 Long Course winners Ben Allen and Jacqui Slack will be returning again in 2015 to contest their title.
“The course is amazing - a great swim, rock hopping along the coast, able to pick up a bit of speed on the trail run on the way back and then the mountain bike course just speaks for itself - it’s a mountain bikers dream with heaps of single track and twists and turns,” said Ben Allen, 14x XTERRA World Tour Race Champion.
Held in the pristine coastal wilderness flanking Geographe Bay and Meelup Regional Park, this truly ranks as one of the most spectacular settings of any race in the world.
Participants will swim in an ocean of turquoise water, run along a sculpted granite coastline interspersed with golden sandy beaches, and mountain bike on roller coaster, purpose-built, single track through fields of wildflowers and native grasstrees.
The weekend-long event is based at the Dunsborough Country Club and will encompass three events of varying degrees of difficulty designed so that anyone – including the kids – can be involved. All races are open to individuals and relay teams.
The X-Adventure Long Course consists of a 1500m ocean swim, 12km coastal trail run, and a 22km mountain bike. The X-Adventure Short Course is designed for beginners and intermediate level adventurers who might be tackling an off road triathlon such as this for the first time and is approximately half the distance. Then there’s a tailored children’s race, the Kids X-Adventure, designed for tomorrow’s sporting stars with a 200m swim, 2.5km trail run and 4km mountain bike.
Also in 2015, there will be three standalone paddle races on the Saturday for keen paddlers wanting a part of the action or as an added challenge for X-Adventure competitors.
Located just 30 minutes from Margaret River in the state’s South West, Dunsborough’s Geographe Bay coastline is one of the state’s most popular holiday destinations and with good reason. Stunning scenery, cosmopolitan cafes, restaurants, wineries, a variety of accommodation and a range of things to do will ensure competitors and spectators alike will be guaranteed a fabulous weekend.
