DesafÃo Aysén Verano Kicks off the Latin American AR Circuit

From the 14th to January 17th the Aysen Challenge 2015 will be held in Patagonia. It’s is the Ninth version of this Chilean adventure race. Racers pass by Lake La Paloma, EL White, Balmaceda, Valle Simpson, Lake Pollux, Cerro Galera, Cerro Castillo National Reserve, among other amazing places in Patagonia.
The race has taken place without interruption since 2011, and includes the traditional sections of trekking, kayaking and MTB and there are 18 teams registered. The 5 elite teams composed of 4 people race non-stop for the 4 days of the race and 13 the Adventurer Teams composed of teams of two, take a shorter, easier route and with long breaks.
Teams from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile are racing, including the reigning Latin American Tour AR champions, team Uruguay Ultrasports. They will race Brazilian and Argentine teams that have never been to one of the series events, which the increasingly experienced Chilean teams.
This is a tough race lasting four days, where racers must overcome obstacles and difficulties on a proposed route by reading maps and using a compass and the route is not made public until the day before the start.
One of the important elements that athletes must take care of is hydration and race sponsors GATORADE that will help hydrate athletes at the event.
This race has major sponsorships from from LAN and GARMIN, and a contribution to the security of the race by ‘Carabineros de Chile’ and the Chilean Navy; there is also have local support from Tropera Brewery Hotel Diego de Almagro, School Guides Patagonia. SERNATUR - AYSEN also contributes to the dissemination of the event.
During the 2015 race participants will also score points for the regional circuit of racing adventure, recently established with events in Cochrane, Chile Chico and Coyhaique; and to the Latin American Adventure Racing Circuit. 2015 is the second year of this championship circuit with races in countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina and Chile, and this Challenge Aysen date is the first in the 2015 circuit.
