Ultra Taiwan: Mountains, Forests, Bamboo and Beaches

Ultra Taiwan / 02.07.2015See All Event Posts Follow Event

Ultra Taiwan, the inaugural edition of a trail running race that is jointly organised by In Motion Asia (Taiwan) and Asia Sport Connection (Hong Kong), will take place from 24 to 25 October 2015 in northern Taiwan. To cater to the palates of runners, from novices to experienced, the race will feature four race distances – 15km, 25km, 50km and 100km – and also a 4km fun run for kids.

The 2015 UT100km offers racers 2 UTMB points.

Ultra Taiwan is the first 100km trail race in Taiwan that has more than 90% of its course on trails. Set against the backdrop of Taiwan’s Xueshan mountain range, participants will be on a course that includes single track buried deep in the forests, tricky descents and quad-burning uphill, numerous stream crossings and rock scrambling. While undertaking the 100km feat of endurance, participants cannot help but pause and absorb the stunning scenery that the course has to offer:the long stretch of the sands of Fulong Beach, ancient Caoling Trail that was a key trade link during the Qing dynasty, views from the ridgeline of Taoyuan Gu that offers panoramic views across Northern Taiwan and the Pacific Ocean, riverside trails along Tiger Leopard Lake and Black Dragon Lake, misty mountain views of the peaks of Xueshan mountain range, lush tea fields…

All the race courses except the UT50 start from the golden sands of Fulong Beach. The 50km race covers the second half of the 100km race, which includes the technical climb up to Teapot Mountain, while the 25km and 15km races take in the best trails surrounding Fulong Beach, and sections of the ancient Caoling Trail.

The registration has been opened for a month and as of last count there are runners from more than 21 countries already registered for the race. Registration for Ultra Taiwan may be made through the official website www.ultrataiwan.com.
