Wildside Adventure Race 12/24
This Weekend Adventure Racing Hits Wauchope
News Release / 22.09.2015

Australia’s newest adventure race, Wildside Adventure Race, in short course mode hits Wauchope this weekend - October 3 & 4.
Attracting some of the best adventure racing teams from across the East Coast of Australia the race promises to be exciting as teams tackle either the 12 or 24 hour course. In teams of 2 or 4 they will navigate through spaces rarely visited and overcome challenges traversing demanding landscapes, moving from checkpoint to checkpoint by foot, mountain bike and kayak. This is what adventure racing is all about.
Race organisers Fully Rad Adventures are no stranger to adventure racing having competed in short course through to multi day races across Australia and New Zealand.
“We really love the outdoors and adventure racing” Race Director, Richard Old, “Anything that gets people out exploring is a good thing.”
The race has attracted top NSW teams BMX Bandits and Over Yonder Racing as well as the owner of the Adventure Racing World Series who will race against racers new to sport and some local teams. One of the new racers is the all girls team Travel Play Live, from Forster, who are stepping up to 24hr racing.
Each team will use map, compass together with their own wits and skills to navigate their way over an unmarked route by mountain biking, paddling, trekking, orienteering, trail running, and of course a few surprises through the spectacular forests and rivers surrounding Wauchope. They will have to problem solve, route find and persevere over a wild course managing their resources.
“This race will have everything - challenging trek legs, demanding mountain biking ranging from flowing single track to rugged back country tracks and scenic paddle legs. The course is rich in history and we have designed a race that will give teams a real adventure experience as well as get to know the area.”
Based in the township of Wauchope, west of Port Macquarie, on the North Coast, this part of Australia has a landscape perfect for adventure with miles of forest tracks and trails, mountainous climbs, flowing rivers and a community that is connected to its environment. Teams can expect a warm welcome and a great experience.
