Cowboy Tough Week Hits Wyoming with Variety of Local Races
News Release (Rev3 Adventure) / 12.07.2016

The Cowboy Tough Adventure Week is back in Wyoming for the fourth year, and the event management company Rev3 Adventure isn’t skimping on adventure, with lots of fun and unique events planned around Casper, in Curt Gowdy State Park, various locations in Douglas, through Medicine Bow National Forest, and on the North Platte River.
The week starts tonight with a 5K Glow Run in Cheyenne at the Municipal Swimming Pool and ends with experienced adventure racers from around the world crossing the finish line of the Cameco Cowboy Tough 3.5-day expedition race. Learn more about all the events at www.cowboytoughwy.com.
With the assistance of local and state government, including the City of Casper, Wyoming State Parks, Converse County, and the governor’s office, and the sponsorship of local corporations, including Cameco Resources, Anadarko, Sierra Trading Post, and Central Wyoming Medical Aesthetics, these events highlight the unique beauty of Wyoming and get citizens outdoors having fun with their friends and family.
The Glow Runs, held in Cheyenne on July 8 and Casper on July 9, are designed to be a relaxed and fun way to fit fitness into a healthy lifestyle. The Tenderfoot and Strong adventure races, for beginners and intermediate adventure racers, respectively, help unleash the adventurer within, bringing a sense of accomplishment after a day of tackling a new challenge or striving to land a spot on the podium. The Sierra Trading Post Curt Gowdy Tenderfoot race takes place in Cheyenne on July 9, and the Casper Strong hits up Casper Mountain on July 10.
The week culminates in the 3.5-day expedition race Cameco Cowboy Tough, which brings adventure racers from all over the world to Wyoming, offering them an unrivaled in-depth tour of the rugged, beautiful, and historic state.
The expedition race begins next Thursday, July 14, at Crossroads Park in Casper and ends at noon in the same location on Sunday, July 17. The course will not be revealed until Wednesday, July 13, when the participants check in for the race, but they do know they will navigate their way about 400 miles back to Casper via foot, bike, rope and paddle.
The Cameco Cowboy Tough AR has sold out each year, and this year 36 teams of two or four will be competing. The Cameco Cowboy Tough Adventure Race is a premier qualifying event for the Adventure Racing (AR) World Series. The AR World Series unites some of the best endurance athletes in the world at these qualifying events around the globe, and the top two teams at each of these events will gain entry to the AR World Championship that will be held in Australia in November.
For 2017, the Cameco Cowboy Tough, Rev3 Adventure, and the state of Wyoming will be the host of the Adventure Racing World Championship.
