Length: 1,200 hours
Location: New Zealand - All of it
New Zealand runner Mal Law is about to set off on his most audacious fund raising challenge to date – the Partners Life High Five-0 Challenge.
His aim is to run 50 off-road marathons in 50 days as he climbs 50 of the highest peaks in New Zealand. With no planned rest days he expects to be on his feet for 10 hours per day, climbing a total of more 100,000m before the end of his journey. It’s taken two years to plan the trip and the 54 year old athlete will be accompanied by over 300 volunteer runners as he makes his way around the country.
The challenge starts on Sat. Feb 7th at the internationally acclaimed Tarawera Ultramarathon at Rotorua where Mal will complete part of the course, then take a detour up Mount Rangitoto. He will finish 50 days later after running in the Partners Life Dual Marathon on Rangitoto and Mototapu islands.
