This event is a Regional Qualifier for the USARA National Championships
Traders moving west from New Mexico discovered the incredible vistas and harsh conditions that make Southwestern Utah a tourist destination today. With national parks like Zion,the many moods of the Virgin River and the outdoor-oriented communities St. George and Hurricane millions of visitors are drawn to this are every year.
Antonio Armijo led 60 men across the region on what would become the Southern Route of the Spanish Trail in 1829. In 2016, the Happy Mutant Adventure Race Series will come to this land of slot canyons, raw open space and beautiful mountain views with a 72-hour, 300+ mile event that will test the mental and physical mettle of every team.
Teams comprised of two or four people will be subjected to challenging map and compass navigation, trekking and canyoneering sections, exploring underground wonders and riding on some of the most enticing single track found in the US! Co-ed four-person teams will compete for $6,000.00 in cash, all other divisions will be eligible for product-based awards. All competing teams will be eligible to compete in the $10,000.00 HMARS Final in November 2016.
Registration will open on October 1, 2015. The field will be limited to 200 racers.
