Length: 20 hours
Register Early: Discounts are available to early registration as well as other benefits. Registration is limited to 40 teams in each the Elite and Sport Divisions.
Team Composure: Three person male, female, and co-ed. Teams of two or four can race unofficially. Four person teams will have to pay an additional canoe cost as two canoes are necessary.
National Championship Qualifier: The Elite Coed Division of this event will again apply to be a qualifying race for the United States Adventure Race Association National Championship. If a qualiier, the top 3 finishing teams in this division qualify. Top 15 Elite Coed teams earn point toward USARA national ranking system.
Elite Race: This is a wicked event that includes water crossings, paddling (canoe), navigation / orienteering (water and land), mystery events, and anything else we dream up before the race. The navigation is challenging. This race is not geared for novice racers. This division is designed to allow the racer great freedom in route selection and caters to those teams that emphasize solid race strategy and critical thinking. This event is designed to be completed in 20 hours or less.
Sport Race: This event is geared for novice, first time racers or those that just want a shorter race. The events are similar to the elite division only less lengthy, but still challenging. Racers are not required to plot UTM map coordinates in this division. This race may include swimming - you will have the option to wear a PFD. The race is designed to be completed in less than 8 hours.
Navigation Clinic: Learn all you could ever want to know about AR Navigation. Come to our annual navigation clinic tentatively March 17, 2007 @ Baker Creek State Park. This clinic is free to registered racers. If you just want to attend the clinic, the cost is $25 per person. If you are planning to attend, ensure you email Bill to let him know (bill@s-t-w.org).
Entry Fees: Elite - $335, early $240 (before 2/1/06), $285 (before 4/16/06) , Sport - $230, early $150 (before 2/1/06)$180 (before 4/16/06) for three person team (co-ed or single gender). There is a service charge assessed if registering online (see www.s-t-w.org to register by mail without a fee). We assess a late fee of $50 several weeks prior to the race to encourage you to signup early. There is also a small park entry fee and all racers must have a USARA license (can purchase for $8 the day of the race).
Low entry fee: We have tried to keep our entry fee low. We encourage racers to make additional tax deductible dontations to the organization if so inclined. Thanks!
Proceeds: All proceeds from the race are used for the humanitarian efforts of Save the World (STW), Inc. The organization has no administrative fees and 100% of all donations and income to the organization are used for humanitarian assistance.
