Length: 8 hours
Location: North Downs
At registration each team will be given a pre-marked map and descriptions for 18 run/ trek checkpoints and 18 mountain bike checkpoints. Competitors then have a maximum 8 hours to reach as many checkpoints as possible in the quickest time. This is a score event with varing vaules attached the each checkpoint. Competitors can choose whether to run or bike first. At the start, the control card for the chosen first stage will be issued. They will collect their remaining control card when they return to base for transition. The clock will not stop during transition and the teams will need to be well organised. Planning, route choice and teamwork will all be essential for a top scoring position. The event will reflect some of the pressures of the endurance adventure races and help prepare teams for these longer events.
The winter events will start later to include an element of night navigation, either on bike or on foot.
