Length: 0 miles
Location: Wind Creek State Park
The 2009 Amphibious Warrior Adventure Race offers two disciplines for all levels of adventure racers. The elite race features a mountain biking portion and is a USARA 2009 National Qualifying Race in the 3 person coed category. It also contains a trail run/trekking portion, an orienteering aspect, and a canoeing portion. The sport race features all of these aspects with the exception of the mountain biking portion and offers a challenge as well as a great introduction to the sport.
As in years past, the event will be held in and around Wind Creek State Park, on Lake Martin, and in the surrounding area. Check-in/Registration will be at the group campground inside of Wind Creek State Park. In the elite race, some checkpoints will be pre-plotted on maps while others will be plotted by the teams. Teams will be required to navigate to the points using map and compass (please check out our gear list Sport or Elite). As the sport race is designed for individuals that are interested in adventure racing but may not have prior experience in this sport, all checkpoints will be pre-plotted and navigation will be much easier than the elite race. There are separate awards ceremonies for each race, as the elite racers will be on the course far longer than those in the sport division. Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers, along with great merchandise for others.
Cost will cover T-shirts, all necessary maps, awards and refreshments after the race.
