Length: 150 miles
Location: Rought rugged and extreme Central West Texas
In 2004 the Rock, Roll and Rattlesnake Challenge will be hosted by Krooked River Ranch, L & N South Paint Creek Cattle Ranch, Lake Stamford and Haskell. L & N is our family owned ranch in Haskell County. Krooked River Ranch is owned by the Hendrick Home for Children Trust and has been operated for the last 13 years by Roy and Becky Wilson, Krooked River Ranch Outfitters. It is 41,993 acres east of Stamford in Haskell, Shackelford and Throckmorton Counties. The Wilsons and their staff have built a national reputation in the outfitting and guiding business. Wildlife and livestock play important economic roles in the perpetuation of this scenic rolling habitat along the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. The ranch is typical of rough breaks and mesquite rangelands in the Rolling Limestone Prairie, broken draws lined with bumelia, hackberry, aromatic sumac, elbowbush, greenbriar and lotebush, and features mature turkey roost timber along the Clear Fork. White-tailed deer, Rio Grande Wild turkeys, bobwhite quail, mourning doves, furbearers, songbirds, and yes...feral hogs abound.  The last week in April is time of year wildflowers explode into an aromatic and colorful countryside creating a delight for the eyes and nose both. Beautiful, rough, rugged and extreme are a few words to describe this area of Texas. If you think Texas is flat, I dare ya to come race with us!
