Katherine Ultra Challenge

Location: Nitmiluk National Park & Katherine River Corr
Want to get away from that God awful southern winter? Well jump on your bike and get to Katherine in the NT, where the weather is a treat!
One of the more demanding things you can do with yourself on a "Top End" dry season day is to take part in the Katherine Ultra Challenge. Now in its eleventh year, this is the flagship endurance event of the Northern Territory.
The Katherine Ultra-Challenge is a one day multisport event encompassing six different legs covering 100km�s within the world renowned Katherine Gorge / Nitmiluk National Park and around the Katherine region.
The race begins with a 3km swim down the First Gorge through the morning mist with towering rock cliffs looming above. This is follwed by a 8km cross country run through the Nitmiluk National Park. A 25km mountain bike down the Katherine River corridor preceedes an 8km road run to the historic WWII Low Level Bridge. This is followed by a 17km kayak down the spectacular Katherine River (rapids included)and lastly a 37km road bike back to the outskirts of town.
Make no mistake it�s hard graft, but it is excellent fun.
You can compete as an individual or in a team of 2-6 people. Registration forms and race information can be obtained from our web site. Completed forms should be sent to P.O Box 74 Katherine 0852.
There will be a race briefing and registration the night before at the Katherine Museum from 5pm. Following the race, there will be a BYO presentation evening and dinner, also at the Museum from 7pm.
