The Burton Creek Trail Run (5K, 10K, 1/2 Marathon, and Marathon distances) takes place on a beautiful, fun and challenging trail system within Burton Creek State Park. The course features miles of single track through pine forests and high sierra meadows. Burton Creek drains the runoff from Mt. Watson into Lake Tahoe. You\'ll see and hear the creek often and June is a great wildflower time of year as well.
The Burton Creek Trail Run is part of the TrailRunner Magazine\'s Trophy Series. The TrailRunner Trophy Series is a points-based series of 130 trail races in the US and Canada. All events take place between March 1 and September 30th. Anyone who finishes a Trophy Series race is automatically entered. Each participant will earn points for completeing a race and bonus points for finishing in the top three. The man and women who run the greatest number of Trophy Series races each win a spot at the 2011 Get Your Running Legs on Trail Running Week at Kipika Mountain Resort located in the Canadian Rockies.
