750m Swim - take a moment to compose yourself and focus as you enter Derwent water at the start of the 2014 KMF Triathlon. The cool waters will awaken your senses and fill you with adrenaline. The use of swim socks, gloves and neoprene hats are all permitted making the swim a comfortable pleasant experience. The routes can be observed from the Festival Village and swimmers wil be cheered on as they exit the water to transition.
35Km Cycle - the bike is a challenging route taking you over the famous Honister and Newlands Pass with splendid views all around. The road to Buttermere is beautiful with stunning views of water falls and great landscapes of the National Park. Cyclists are directed past Buttermere and then up the wonderful Honister Pass. Wooshing down through Seatoller and through the scenic Borrowdale Valley cyclists will join the shorter route hugging the shores of Derwentwater and returning back to the Festival Village.
10Km Run - a fabulous run with a combination of road then trail heading out towards one of Keswick's most iconic Mountain ranges - the Skiddaw range.
Team Relay - a team of 3 consists of one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner with each team member handing over their timing chip (the baton) at the end of each leg OR a Team of 2 where one team member completes 2 legs.
The start and finish of the Triathlon will be in the picturesque Crow Park where the Festival Village is located. The Festival Village is the hub of the Mountain Festival creating an amazing atmosphere for all our competitors. Crow Park sits on the shores of Derwentwater offering incredible views of Catbells, Skiddaw and the Borrowdale Valley.
The Festival will be launching new activities and events for 2014 which will include fantastic evening entertainment - all competitors will recieve a Free Festival Pass to our evening entertainment!
