The first race of its kind in gorgeous Croft State Park, 7,000 acres of mountain biking and trekking that will take you back in time, peeling back layers as far as the American Revolution as you swoop over 16+ miles of South Carolina’s highest-rated mountain bike trails, explore the shores of Lake Johnson, and cover the Croft Passage section of the iconic Palmetto Trail, all during peak leaf season. There’s no paddle section for this race, but don’t worry, you’ll still get wet!
The Palmetto Possum can be up to 24 miles bike and 16 miles on the trek, some of it on the iconic Croft Passage of the Palmetto Trail. Choose your checkpoints based on your strengths and decide how much ground you’d like to cover. Croft’s long history means you’ll be seeking out checkpoints in abandoned farmsteads, Civilian Conservation Corps bridges, icy creeks and long-forgotten cemeteries. At least, we *think* they’re long forgotten…
