XII Raid Transaventur Costa Daurada (12th edition)
From the 18th till the 20th of march Nil Travel organizes the 12th edition of the Transaventur Costa Daurada, the first adventure raid of Catalonia which will lead through the mountain areas and along the coast of Tarragona.
Teams
The teams will exist of three athletes, of which only 2 will be racing during a section, while 1 will be assisting (except for a few sections where all athletes must race). The teams do not have to be mixed and it is allowed to have an additional person for driving the team vehicle.
Foreign participation
This time there will be at least 2 foreign teams (Netherlands) again and the organization is hoping to get more of them.
To set the trend again, this edition of the Transaventur Costa Daurada has been “designed†for the real multi-disciplinary athletes, rather than strong mountain bikers and/or mountain runners.
Disciplines:
This edition will be the most complete one, having the following disciplines included:
Orienteering (during all sections, maps provided by organization)
Orienteering by night (own equipment)
Horse riding (10km, horses provided by organization)
Mountain biking (100km, own bikes)
Trekking (50km)
Sea kayaking (25km, kayak equipment provided by organization)
River kayaking (20km, kayak equipment provided by organization)
Flat water canoeing (12km, canoe equipment provided by organization)
Inline skating (20km, own skates)
Canyoning (IIIº-IVº, own equipment, but ropes installed by organization)
Via-Ferrata (D+, own equipment)
Caving (own equipment)
Archery (own/organization)
Rock climbing (V+ top rope, own equipment, but ropes installed by organization)
Categories:
This edition of the Raid Transaventur Costa Daurada will contain 2 different categories: The first will be the ‘Extreme’ category, including all sections of the raid, the second will technically be the same, but without some long and physically tough sections.
Equipment:
A list of mandatory equipment will be available soon.
The teams must have their own team vehicle (mini bus).
Program:
Friday night:
Verification of teams and their materials.
Night section, from approx. 20:00h till ……..?
Saturday:
Long section, with massive start in the morning.
Finishing of teams is expected between approx. 17:00h and 20:00h.
Sunday:
Massive start and finishing between approx. 13:00h and 15:00h. Price giving at 20:00h.
Entrance fee:
The entrance fee will be € 180, = per team
Insurance:
The license of the FEEC (Catalonian federation of mountain sport) is not essential, as the Raid organization can provide teams with an adequate insurance.
