The Capricorn
The \"Capricorn\" is a two day mountain navigation
competition where competitors carry only sufficient
clothing, equipment and sustenance for a day on
the fells and return to the event centre overnight.
The event this year returns to one of the very first venues ever used by the Capricorn in the early 1980’s and one which has remained unused since. Located on the western edge of the Yorkshire dales beneath the shadows of Ingleborough this years event returns to Kingsdale. All the usual classes are catered for:
Class Day 1 Day 2
A 27k 14k
C 18k 12k
D 15k 9k
Long Score (LS) 5 hrs 3 hrs
Short Score (SS) 3.5 hrs 2 hrs
Trim
A non-competitive course 6 – 8 km per day
As usual a campsite is provided free of charge, with all the usual amenities and caterers.
