The Odyssey Off-Road IRONsm course, nestled in the rugged and majestic Allegheny Mountains, includes a 2.4-mile swim around picturesque Douthat Lake (2 loops); a 112-mile bike (2 loops) on rolling, back country gravel fire roads; and a non-technical single-track trail run (26.2-mile loop) that takes racers along lush woodlands and to Virginia's most stunning overlooks. “I believe the multi-sport endurance community is looking for something new. Odyssey has been producing off-road duathlons and XTERRA Points Series triathlons, Half IRON Tris, and Double and Triple IRON Tris for years. We believe people are now looking for something different,” says event director and Odyssey founder, Don Mann. “I do believe think that an Off-Road IRON Triathlonsm is just what the extreme endurance community needs,” he adds.
