1. Categories –

TEAMS OF 2 MEMBERS (Male, Female or Mixed, Its only one category: 2, no gender distinction): Recommended for Advanced and Elites

TEAMS OF 4 MEMBERS (Male, Female or Mixed Teams, Its only one category: 4, no gender distinction) : Recommended for Intermediates.

2. Teams – Each team has the possibility to move in together as a Group or 1 by 1 member, allowing the other member (s) of the team to rest in the START CAMP.

3. Courses:

BIKE COURSE: teams must start from the PC0, and register in PC1 and PC2, then, must return to PC0.

TREKKING COURSE: teams must start at PC0 and register at PC2. When the team decides to race each course, they must notify the judges at the START CAMP. There, the team will receive a Master Card from the judges. This card will be of a different color depending on the course each team has decided to complete next (either Bike or Trekking course)

4. “1x3” Format:

For every one (1) trekking course completed, the team must complete 3 Bike course, these can be completed as each team decides to do it. However, we recommend that Bike course is completed during the day light, and leave the trekking courses to be completed by night. The team that can complete more “1x3” in 24 hours will be the WINNER OF THE RACE.

If, after the 24 hours teams tie, with the total “1x3 accomplished during that time, there will be a bike sprint to the Town of Hidalgo to decide the winner of the race. It is clear that this is a strategy race, as the teams that go too fast and do not administrate their strength smartly, have the risk to “get burned” in the first legs of the race. Although there is a cut of time, this is a race of endurance, strategy, and team work!

The last course can be started from PC0, one (1) second before the cut off time(24 hours). Isolated legs that are not presented as a “1x3” do not count. For instance: maybe one team has completed 2 trekking legs and 7 bike legs. This will be counted by the organizers as 2 “1x3”.

5. Equipment:

Mandatory :

2 MTBikes per team in proper conditions.
1 Mtb helmet per team member.
1 Camp Tent per team.
1 Extra clothing per person, to resist temperatures below 0ºC (even under rainy conditions), thermic gloves and hat included.
1 Hydration backpack per person and enough food, energy bars, etc.
The organization of the race, could disqualify teams that under their criteria will not be able to face with enough safety the weather conditions or natural elements that will be faced during the race. Rappeling equipment will be provided by the Quest Race organization.

Suggested :

Extra clothing, GPS, rain gear, comunication radios, trekking poles, emergency bib. More recommendations will be given soon...

6. Rappelling: Each team (only one member of the team) has to complete 1 rappel during the first 12 hours of the race.

7. Orienteering: GPS usage is allowed, however, it is not mandatory, as the organizers will provide topo map and the course will be marked in some strategic points. This is an orienteering race, therefore the organizers do not warrant that the marks will be enough to locate every PC.

8. Prizes: Trophy & 450 USD per team to the first place of each category (4: and 2: ) More prizes will be added!

9. Secret PC. there is one(1) secret PC that you will only discover during the race.
