Rollo’s Nelson Adventure Race 2007
If you have 4 team mates (of which one is required to be of the opposite gender) and support crew of 2 or more, with a desire to participate in a well organized, exciting, challenging – yet fun event in the spectacular backdrop of the Nelson region. Then come and join us on the 2nd June at the start line of the 2007 Rollo’s Nelson Adventure Race.
There are 2 events this year,
There is the original Rollo’s Nelson Adventure Race - ADVENTURE 24 and the ½ course ADVENTURE 12 for those who want to experience adventure racing without committing to a full event.
ADVENTURE 24 – NZ Adventure Racing Champs Race No2. There will be one category, 4 person mixed, however I will also allow 4 women and Classic men’s (over 50 years).
ADVENTURE 12 - You can either race as a 2 or 4 person team, as female, male or mixed.
Both events will start at the same time and use the same course for the first half of the event.
The Rollo’s Nelson Adventure Race is all about enjoying the experience and the involvement of you and your team mates competing in an adventure race. You will get a taste of kayaking, trekking & mountain biking across, around mountain ranges and waterways of the Nelson region while using rogaining & orienteering skills along the way.
The course will again be issued in stages adding to the surprise and spirit of your adventure.
As a team you will be required to navigate using a topographical map and compass during the day & night in any weather condition across tracked & untracked terrain, be able to apply basic first aid, know how to swim and be confident while paddling a double kayak in windy sea & lake condition.
On your adventure we will throw in checkpoints to ensure you are making the most of the scenery and enjoying the event.
This years Rollo’s Nelson Adventure Race will take between 18 to 26 hours for the main course and 10 to 14 hours for the ½ course.
