The Rhodes Trail Run, South Africa\'s premier trail race, is a 52km event staged in the Southern Drakensberg of South Africa. The event starts in the hamlet of Rhodes at an altitude of 1800m, and climbs (at one stage the gradient is 1:3) to 2670m at Lesotho View (on the Lesotho border) running along the Ben MacDhui snowfields before returning to Rhodes. 30%+ of the event is along contours and on trail, the balance on very poor dirt double track and gravel road.
