The Mother of all hilly runs. Very steep rocky cliff paths, shingle, sand, mud and some tarmac if you are lucky. Day one starts aggressively with a climb up Golden Cap early on then levels out for a nice stroll along Chesil Bank. Day two takes you through the lovely sea side resort of Weymouth then it really starts: Osmington Mills, Ringstead Bay, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Tyneham village finishing at Kimmeridge Bay. Day 3 is probably the wildest of the lot passing over Chapmans Pool, St Aldhelms Head and Dancing Ledge before hauling you up and over Ballard Down to tip your hat to Old Harry rocks, finishing at Shell Bay, Studland. For a sneaky peek at the route and what\'s in store for you have a look at the JCC 2007 video. The link is on the top right hand side of this page.
The votwo team are providing the support package that will include the following -
Check points: Approximately every 6-8 miles supplying food and drink, to ensure that you are on route and as point of reference for time keeping. For those needing it they offer the perfect opportunity to have a good sit down.
Transportation: Each day your group will be instructed to meet at the days meeting point. You will leave your car here and be transported to the start. If your accommodation is in the Chickerell area for both nights (finish and start point for days 1 & 2) you can leave your car there and votwo will take care of your transport for days 1 & 2.
Medical assistance: The whole route is covered by our medical support and evacuation plan. Every morning at race registration the medics will be available to sort out any blisters, tape feet up and re-attached severed limbs etc etc. The votwo physiotherapists will also be available to advise on dealing with strains and injuries.
Group guides. A votwo running guide with extensive local knowledge of the route will lead and encourage each group. You will also be issued with maps and route descriptions should you wish to go at your own pace (these are issued as part of your pre-challenge package posted to you two weeks before the event.)
Individual times: at each check point your number will be taken then after the event time sheets will be available.
Meat wagon: any runner who can no longer continue at any checkpoint can jump on the mini bus and be taken to the finish point (hanging your head is shame is optional).
On Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon votwo physiotherapists will be providing a massage service located at the Lugger Inn (Sunday afternoon from the finish line). It will cost £10 for 15 mins. If you think that you may be interested in this service (and it may help you to get out of bed the next day) please express this on your booking form.
On Saturday night there is a group BBQ and talk at the Lugger Inn. Tickets for the group BBQ will be sold on the night at the door. The price will be around £13. Transport will be provided for runners staying in the nearby Haven Holiday park accommodation.
Online Training: Free access to the votwo e-log training programme. This is an 8 week programme designed by votwo running coach and JCC founder Paul Hart. It is set at 2 different levels to help maximize your chances of completing the event in good shape. Access to this plan will be emailed to you when your entry is received by us.
