Spero Challenge 2004
Classes:
Sprint - 2 persons (men or women) races 7 - 10 hours. Running/Trekking, canoe and mountain bike. Some "wet" moments will wait on Klarälven, Swedish longest river, witch flows trough the City of Karlstad. Total distance - 80 km
Light - 2 Persons (men or women) races 24 - 36 hours. Begins like the sprint but after 7 - 10 hour there will be a breathtaking Inline track on an old railway. After that a long night with trekking and surprising moments in the dark. The finish will be held in Sunne, in the middle of Värmland and Fryksdalen. Total distance - 230 km
Spero Challenge (The Big Race) - 4 Persons. Men only or mixed team in separated classes. Winning time - 48 ours and up to 80 ours for the last teams.
The winner of the mixed class will get a free entry to European Championship Adventure Race, held in Kärnten, Austria, June 26th - July 3rd 2004. Total distance - 450 km
Spero Challenge starts in the middle of Karlstad at 10.00, Thursday the 20:th of May.
The evening before the race a big information meeting will take place. We will also have a separate information for English spoken racers/team before or after the meeting held in Swedish.
After the first day of racing, mostly held in an in the surroundings of Carlstadt, the race goes north up in to Fryksdalen, first by Inline, then by trekking. The racers will travel trough Värmland, all the way to the Norwegian border (mountain bike) until they turn back in to Sweden. The way back to the centre of Värmland will go by canoeing, trekking, bike & run and some more wet stages.
In Lerälven, near Sunne, a spectacular adventure canoeing will take place. The name of this tiny, tiny river can be translated to clay-river. Then you can understand how that stage will be like....
