Escort paddlers can stay behind the swimmers at the start line. Any boats lingering at the start line will risk their team from being disqualified. Individual swimmers do not require an escort boat but do require an escort paddler. 2 person relay team can change from a surf ski or other paddle craft/boat.
After the start swimmers will make their way to boat one (1st change over point). No changes until this point (see map). Competitors must keep to the north of the boat. After rounding the boat teams are permitted to change as often as they like until Boat two. This boat will be positioned 100 metres north west of Bradley’s Head. Competitors must again keep north of this boat by keeping it on their right side. No changes permitted until around Bradley’s Head.
After rounding the Bradley’s Head swimmers may start changes after passing the East Cardinal Mark 200 metres North of Bradley’s Head. All competitors must keep clear of the channel and stick as close as possible to the Western Shore to Middle Head. From Middle Head swimmers will make their way to a buoy off Dobroyd Point. Keeping this buoy once again to their right swimmers then make their way to the western side of the Manly Wharf.
