Oxfam Trailwalker Canada is taking place on July 24-26, 2009 on the Ganaraska Trail between Fort Willow (Barrie Area) and Wasaga Beach.
Oxfam Trailwalker is a team challenge. The challenge is for a team of 4 to travel 100km by foot on a Canadian trial in less than 48 hours and to raise at least $2,500.
Oxfam Trailwalker Canada is part of a series of Trailwalker events that take place annually around the world. The events began in 1981 as a military exercise for the elite Queen\'s Gurkha Signals Regiment in Hong Kong, and has since grown into one of the world\'s leading sporting challenges, with 1000\'s of teams completing the event every year..
Oxfam Trailwalker Canada is all about teamwork - it is a great way for friends to bond or for work colleagues to develop team spirit. Teams must start together, go through each checkpoint together, and finish together. Oxfam Trailwalker Canada is challenging, but you don\'t need to be a marathon runner or a professional athlete to do it. With training, and the right mental attitude, just about anyone can complete it.
Teams can walk (or run) the 100km route at their own pace, and can be supported by friends and family at all of the checkpoints along the route; and at all of the checkpoints there will be Trailwalker volunteers and other amenities (toilets, rest tents, food, drink etc.).
