The Gibb Challenge is a multi day team relay mountain bike event tracing the iconic stock route of the Gibb River Road from West to East Kimberley. The event includes an individual time trial on Cable Beach Broome before the event starts in earnest from the deep port town of Derby. Overnight camp locations include; Imintji Community, Mount Elizabeth Station, Ellenbrae Station, Home Valley Station and El Questro Wilderness Park.
The event's primary objective is to encourage active recreation through the creation of a socially competitive team event. The team relay format allows even modestly fit people to participate and undertake a remarkable, life defining adventure. Participant times are only recorded to assist our event's traffic management strategy and enhance participant safety.
Teams can be composed of between 1-6 riders. Smaller teams attract stronger riders whereas larger teams permit more socially inclined athletes. It really is about participation above competition.
The Gibb Challenge encourages social responsibility and in 2014 each rider will undertake to raise $1000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Last year our participants raised in excess of $370,000 for RFDS.
