ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Gothenburg
Adriel Young and Amanda Nilsson Win Mixed Category just Behind Overall Winners
Press Release / 07.08.2023
The Gothenburg Archipelago presented itself at its best for this year's ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Gothenburg. The weather conditions were calm and dry with mild air temperatures and a water temperature of around 17 degrees. The race course was very challenging: the athletes had to complete a total race distance of 33.3 km with 26.4 km of very technical trail running and 6.9 km of swimming. 28 running sections and 27 swim sections meant a lot of transitions for the racers. 82 teams and 42 solo racers participated in the World Series distance.
The reigning World Champions and serial winners Hugo Tormento and Max Andersson and Adriel Young and Amanda Nilsson took the early lead and chased each other down to the finish line, with each of them winning their respective categories with under 5 minutes between them. Ulrika Eriksson and Hanna Skårbratt also showed a very strong race winning the women's category. The top teams are obviously getting in top shape for ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship on September 4th.
"I love the course here, it is super technical, we were lucky with the weather today, it's been not too warm and not too cold and the water is perfect. We had a good day.", said Max Andersson after the race.
The next race is now ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship on September 4th.
