Teams have now received the maps for the first 3 legs of the race. The teams are now all at the start at the boat ramp at the end of SR 40 at the deep water start. They will be paddling back to the race hotel at Homosassa following basically the canoe trail through the mangrove and islands of the gulf coast. Along the way they will pick up one CP. It is estimated teams will complete the paddle in about 5 hours - we'll see soon how quickly they burn through this initital paddle as many teams feel they can beat this 5 hour estimate.Once they arrive back at TA1 they will be heading out on bikes to the "maze" - an area of disconnected dirt roads that covers a 6 x 4 mile area. Since most roads dead end navigating the maze could prove challenging. Teams will have to locate 4 checkpoints in this area and reach the bike drop where they will leave their bikes behind and trek 15 miles to TA2. In the mean time their crews will be picking up their bikes and meeting them at TA2. They will mount their bikes and start the first long leg of the race - a 130 mile ride that will eventually take them to Lake Hatchineha. And so it begins !See All Event Posts
