The Spectacular Warrumbungle Mountains in North Western New South Wales Australia will play host to some 700 athletes from around the globe, the competitive and ambitious will be challenged by this rogaining course, 220 square kilometers, potentially 100 plus kilometres of travel including five thousand metres of climb. This is a rogaining course on which to earn the title World Champion.

Teams will need all of the three hours of planning time ( 0900 to 1200 Australian Eastern Standard Time - AEST - 13th October 2006, rogaine starts at 1200) to solve the puzzle of planning their teams route around the course. Then they will have to execute their plan to maximise their teams score for the finish at midday (1200 Eastern Australian Standard Time 14th October 2006). Will the leading teams be seen in the Hash House (Event Centre) during this WRC or will they disappear for 24 hours?

Strategy, competence, endurance, skill, flexibility and athleticism in abundance are required for those with ambitions to win or place at 7WRC. The following teams and others entered in 7WRC all have these attributes

With a team name like Dark Side of the Moon, David Rowlands AUS and Greg Barbour NZ past winners and place getter at WRC’s seem to know something about the benefit the moon will provide at this event. Very little it will rise at 0100 and set in the morning sun light. Their planning has clearly started before they entered!

Team 61 AROC is a five person team of outstanding outdoor athletes who have a diverse and competitive background, most of the team members are familiar at least to Australian Adventure racers. Made up of Kris Clauson, Matt Dalziel, Tom Landon-Smith, Alina McMaster and Karl Strode Penny this is a team that will be in contention for the Mixed Open category as well as an overall victory. Usually five person rogaining teams come from the participatory and family side of the sport this team though is one to break the mold and results for five person teams in rogaining. No Mixed or Women teams has won an WRC outright this could also be a first set by this team as Alina was the first Woman to win an Australian Rogaining title outright in the Northern Territory a few years ago.
