2007 City of Woodstock/YMCA Goldrush 24 Bigger and Better
Greg Yetter / 01.03.2007

Friday at 12 noon 40 teams are set to begin this year’s edition of the City of Woodstock/YMCA Goldrush 24. Race Director Toby Bramblett and the race staff are “stoked and ready for the fun to begin. Teams are coming from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas and Kentucky to challenge this course in rolling hills of north Georgia. The teams will mountain bike for 35 miles, run/trek for 20 miles and canoe for 20 miles. These distances are rough estimates of running a perfect race, no orienteering mistakes. Some teams can expect to see much more of this beautiful area than they wished. The race’s newest sponsor Carl Black, a leading auto dealer in the Southeast, will be sponsoring a time trial Mtb sprint as our opening Leg. Carl Black will provide the pace car and our local law enforcement will provide the first ever adventure racing rolling roadblock in our area. With a start and finish in Downtown Woodstock Georgia, this race will bring upwards of 3,000 individuals to watch the start and finish. This estimate is based off of the 1,500 spectators in 2006. The top 3 teams will split a prize purse of $2,250 dollars. New this year we are able to partner with USARA. The Goldrush 24 is a National Qualifying USARA Sanctioned Race and the Fastest Coed Elite team will have the honor to race in the 2007 USARA Nationals.See All Event Posts
