The Quest for the 2006 World Championship
22.06.2006

Aberdeen Asset Management demonstrated their strength as a race team and led the field right from the very first minutes of the Wilderness ARC to finish over 10hrs in the lead.
They join the 6 other international teams, who gained automatic and free entry to the Adventure Racing World Championship to be held in Sweden and Norway in August.
The qualifying events for the World Championship were held in Sweden (Explore Sweden), in Africa (The Bull of Africa), Brazil (EcoMotion), Australia (XPD), Poland (Bergson Winter Challenge), Spain (Bimbache Extrem Andulucia) and in Scotland ( Wilderness ARC)
Teams competing in these events represented 26 countries including Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom, USA, Uruguay and Ukraine.
Other countries represented by teams competing included Croatia, Denmark, New Caledonia, Japan, Papua New Guinea and Turkey.
Since the establishment of the ARWC in Switzerland in 2001 the event has consistently attracted the best adventure international race teams. With a global qualifying Series and more and more countries represented the established international race teams are now facing new challenges as young teams try to break into the forefront of the adventure racing scene.
