It’s All Welsh To Me!

There is more adventure racing coming up on TV soon, but you need to be able to get the Welsh language channel, S4C. (If you live outside Wales you can receive it as a digital channel on some packages, so it’s worth checking.) The programmes are subtitled, so you don’t have to speak Welsh!

The two films are from Dream Team T.V., of course, and are the delayed second part of a series called ‘Cymru Ar Ras’ which is going out at 9pm on Thursdays, on June 5th and 12th.

Both are an hour long and the first one is divided between last years Saab Salomon X-adventure stage in Austria and the 2001 Salomon GB National X-adventure in Wales. (Yes 2001, told you it was delayed!) The Austrian race has some very spectacular Alpine scenery and Team Saab Salomon came 3rd, their first podium position in the series.

The GB X-adventure, which was held in Snowdonia, was one of the closest races ever with Team Wales beaten by Team Lythgoes by 11 seconds after a sprint paddle on Lynn Padarn. The second programme is on last years 3 Peaks Yacht Race, which they are screening just ahead of this year’s race by a couple of weeks. It has some very dramatic footage of flattened yachts and terrified runners! (We’ll be covering this year’s event very soon.)
