Pairs Category for BARC Final
Rob / 13.06.2003

Full details will be posted on www.britchamps.com but the new category will be have an entry limit of 40 pairs and there will be no distinction between mixed, male or female pairs. They will race over the same course as the teams (with one support crew only) and the winners will be declared the British Adventure Racing Pairs Champions. The entry fee will be 300.00 per pairs team.
Elliot, who also organises Adrenalin Rush, is also keen to dispel some of the misconceptions held about the final. “It’s a completely different concept to Adrenalin Rush,†he said, “as those who took part last year realised. It’s a supported stage race and within each stage controls are optional, so you can miss some out and take a penalty. The idea is to allow teams of all abilities to take part.â€
“The BARC final is also a race in it’s own right, as well as being the culmination of the series,†he continued. “So teams don’t have to have competed in all (or even any) of the series races to enter the BARC final. Entry is open to all (including teams from outside the UK), though most teams will want to accumulate points through the series races to secure their British ranking position for 2003.â€
To help explain the format of the race and the entry requirements a question and answer page will be added to www.Britchamps.com shortly.
