ACE Race Series Champions

At the third and final ACE Race of the year, held in the Galloway Forest Park last weekend, the series prizes were all decided, and with the exception of the team category there were new titleholders in all categories.

Team SleepMonsters were the only series winners from 2005 to defend their title, scoring most consistently but without recording a race win in the most closely fought class of all. Over the 3 races a different team has won each time. The North Face won at Shap, Accelerate High 5 were the victors at Hafren Forest and at Galloway it was CompassPoint who were convincing winners, but they were unable to close the points on gap on SleepMonsters from the first two races.

Over the series Dave Hooper, Chris McSweeny and Shona Robertson were the regular team members, joined by Tim Fairbrother (twice) and Eddie Winthorpe.

In the solo categories it was a family double for Sue and Steve Fisher, who both won 2 out of 3 events. Collecting her prize Sue thanked all the marshals who had learnt their shoulders during tearful moments over the 3 races! Steve was the only one of the series winners to also win the last race of the series.

There was another husband/wife win in the mixed pairs category too, with Clive and Judith Hughes taking the title and in the male pairs the series winners were Russ Ladkin and Paul Dickens.

The prizes were presented to the winners by Phil Humphreys and were provided by supporting sponsors Anquet mapping software, Cotswold Outdoor and Exposure Lights.
