NOC 30-Hour Adventure Race was cancelled on August 28, 2006
Greg Yetter / 27.09.2006

Adventure Racer and Course Designer Tim Morris teamed up with NOC to bring a value-packed, exciting and beautiful 30 HOUR ADVENTURE RACE in the scenic mountains of western North Carolina. The race offered three course options to maximize racers' fun and success: a PRO/ELITE course of 85-90 miles, an INTERMEDIATE course of 70 miles, and a NOVICE short course of 60 miles. The course was expected to rock for experienced adventure racers, and was designed to encourage novice racers. There were 6-7 stages total for the pro-elite course. Prizes in all race categories and cash prizes of $1000, $700, and $500 for top three teams would have been the payout.
It is unfortunate that an event is able to garner the sponsorship to hold a race but there is not enough teams to even start the race. This is a disturbing trend in the Adventure Race community. Several races have been cancelled in the past year and numerous others have suffered from low racer turnout. Notable among the cancelled races is The Beast of the East held by Odyssey Adventure Racing.
