Bimbache Back in Andalucía

Bimbache Extrem will be returning to Andalucía in Southern Spain in 2007. The expedition length race, part of the ARWorld Series, took place there last year in some unseasonably cold weather. However, the teams who took part all enjoyed the magnificent mountains and countryside, and those returning will be hoping for better weather and more sunshine this time around.

This 5th edition of the race will take place between March 18th and 24th, and even before the start date was announced many teams have been contacting the organiser Antonio de la Rosa, keen to get an entry.

He says 20 teams have already confirmed their participation, many from outside Spain who are keen to try and qualify for the ARWorld Championships, which will take place in Scotland at the end of May. (Entries for this race will not open until Dec. 1st, but there are already around 60 teams who have registered on the website at www.arwc2007.com and declared their intention to enter.)

This year’s Bimbache Extrem will start at a secret location in the province of Jaen and will finish in the city of Cordoba. The 450km race will be a day longer this year, with the winners expected in Cordoba after three days and ample time for slower teams to complete a course which will include trekking, kayaking, mountain bike, kayaking in rivers and lakes, skating, caving, white water canoeing, and rope stages.
