Anaconda Adventure Race NSW

This week I was traveling north on holiday and decided to stay in the mid north coast town, I arrived on Thursday and picked up the local paper, the news was exciting, the front page headline exclaimed “We Got It”.

In contrast to about two years ago when I happened to be traveling south for work through Forster and decided to stay o’nite , that was the day that the announcement was made Forster would no longer play host to the Ironman Triathlon after hosting the event for 20years. It was a town in mourning, it was evident local businesses certainly would feel the ramifications of this over the following years.

So it was with much pride that Great Lakes Tourism, Great Lakes International Triathlon Assoc (GLITA) and Rapid Ascent were proud to announce that Forster would host the NSW event on the 22nd and 23rd of September 2007. An added benefit apart from the potential economic return to the local community is the fact that the event will have minimal impact on the community as the event is totally off road, using trail , ocean and surrounding waterways and beaches.

In the past all the Anaconda Adventure Races have been run over 1 day but John Jacoby stated “While our events are normally held over one day, there was too much to fit into one day so we decided to make this a two day event to really showcase what the region has to offer”
